Folly is Handicap Accessible

It might not be something you think about all that much, but visiting the beach with a disability can pose certain challenges. Moving through the sand, getting to the beach, finding a hotel or rental that meets accessibility needs are all concerns. Folly Beach has services, amenities, and lodging to support the mobility impaired visitors to the Edge of America.

Beach Access: While Folly offers beach access in every block, the West Ninth Street access on West Ashley is wheelchair accessible ramp just off the parking lot.

Wheelchair Rental: Two companies in the Charleston area offer their services to the Folly Beach area. Herbert’s Mobility, Inc. (843-571-1515) and The SCOOTER Store (877-206-8684) have rentals of wheelchairs and other necessary equipment to make any beach vacation easier.

Folly Beach Fishing Pier: One of the most beautiful spots on Folly, the fishing pier is handicap accessible with wheelchair ramps from the ground level to the pier’s top deck, which means anyone can enjoy the expansive views and fishing. The restrooms at the pier are also handicap accessible.

Vacation Rentals: Many of the vacation rentals on Folly Beach are handicap accessible. If you are looking for a beach house, you might try searching FollyBeach.com for homes owned by individuals that meet your specific needs, or by calling us or one of our agencies for a refined list.
