Dog Rules on Folly Beach

Fido. Rover. Spot. Whatever you call your furry four-legged friend, dogs are more than welcome on Folly Beach. There are several rules, though, that you should follow to make sure that your pet is safe and that you are ticket-free.

Are Dogs Allowed On Folly Beach?

Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

While this may seem like the best time on the beach for you, your dog might not respond well to the crowded beaches or extreme heat. So when you’re planning on sunbathing in the summer, leave your pup at home.

In the off-season, though, from October 1 through April 30, your dog is welcome on Folly’s beach.

Your pup must stay on a leash and under control, but running, walking, fetching, and swimming are all allowed.

General Dog Rules

Never, ever leave your dog in the car, especially during the summer, even with the windows down. Doing so could prove fatal to your pet.
Always clean up after your dog. There are pet waste bags at beach access points, please use them to keep the beach clean for everyone on Folly, whether they have two or four legs.

Remember that leash laws are enforced on Folly, and tickets can be issued up to $500.
