Alfredo’s on Folly

Alfredo’s on Folly, located at 106 Hudson Avenue, dishes up delicious and affordable homemade Italian classics in a casual environment. They are open for dinner only Tuesday-Thursday, lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, and are closed Sundays and Mondays. Both indoor and outdoor patio seating is available.

Focusing on fresh and quality ingredients, they offer a range of pasta varieties from fettucine to pappardelle and gnocchi to cavatelli, paired with an array of sauce options including tomato basil, beef ragu, alfredo, carbonara and almond arugula pesto. Enjoy it plain or add meatballs, chicken, sausage, shrimp or a combination thereof for an additional charge.

It may sound like nothing complicated, but this small and unassuming restaurant executes simplicity to perfection, and customers rave about the attentive and knowledgeable service. Alfredo’s can explain any questions you might have about the difference between any type of noodle on their menu so you can make an informed choice from among these myriad “pastabilities.”

Alfredo’s also serves lip-smacking panini sandwiches like the Italian Club, the Spicy Calabrian (capicola and provolone), the Tuscan Salumi (salami and provolone) and the Chicken Parm. Add a bag of locally made Lowcountry Kettle Chips and a fountain drink for a small upcharge.

Or think outside the traditional pizza box and order one of their 10’’ panini pressed flatbread style pizzas, available in cheese, pepperoni and a daily special. If you’re in the mood for lighter fare, you can select one of their soup and salad options, such as Tomato & Bread or Sausage & Lentil soup, and featured salads Italian, Caprese or Caesar.

Whatever you decide for the main course, don’t miss out on their crowd-pleasing panini garlic bread, which patrons have praised as “singularly unique and amazing” and “life-changing” in online reviews.

Accompany your meal with a Coke product, lemonade, iced tea or an adult beverage. This is an Italian restaurant after all, so there are extensive wine options to pair with your meal whether Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Chianti Classico, Rosso Dolce or Lambrusco, just to name a few.

If you’re not a wine connoisseur and brews are more your speed, Alfredo’s beer list features Peroni, a crisp, pale Italian lager, along with local selections from Freehouse, Coast, Westbrook Brewing, Holy City Brewing and Edmund’s Oast Brewing, as well as plenty of domestics like Budweiser, Miller, Coors and Blue Moon. You can also branch out and try the hard Italian soda called Bravazzi, which is gluten free and blended with real fruit juice, available in blood orange, limonata, grapefruit and clementina.

Remember to save room for dessert. Order a sweet and creamy cannoli or cool down on a hot beach day with locally made Cirsea Ice Cream, hand-crafted in small batches right here in Charleston. Available in cups, pints or ice cream sandwiches in unique flavors like bourbon caramel, strawberry goat cheese and vanilla black pepper.

When you’re craving authentic Italian on Folly, head over to Alfredo’s and experience this hidden gem.
