Weekly Weather: January 26, 2013

Folly has been socked by winter weather lately. The temperatures have been much colder and the skies have been gray. But if you’re dreaming of summer, the good news is that warmer weather isn’t too far away, even if it is temporary.

This weekend is the start of a warm up. Temperatures Sunday will reach the upper 50s, and mostly sunny skies might make you think of spring. There’s practically no chance of rain this weekend, either, so get out for a walk on the beach or down Center Street.

Monday might be cloudy, but the high temperature will be 67 degrees. Winds will be slight and from the southeast a 9 miles per hour.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the highlights of the week, easily. Tuesday’s temperatures will reach into the low 70s, and partly cloudy skies mean the warmer weather will stick around for a bit. You can look for an isolated thunderstorm on Wednesday, but a January high of 75 is worth a 30-percent chance of rain.

There is a greater chance of scattered thunderstorms on Thursday, and the temperatures drop back into the high 50s. The wind will also pick up to blow the storms out.

The sun will be back on Friday, but the temperatures will drop. The high for the day is 56, and the low is a chilly 39 degrees.

The first weekend of February will marked with sunny, cloud-free skies, but the temperatures will have dropped to a more expected high in the mid-50s on Saturday to 60 on Sunday. There’s no chance of rain, though, so there’s really no excuse for getting out and enjoying all that Folly has to offer.
