Weather Report: November 12, 2012

The weather on Folly Beach has been gorgeous. Warm temperatures and sunshine have marked the last week. But Mother Nature might be about to remind us all that it is, in fact, November, despite what the thermometer reads.

The rain that descended on the Lowcountry early this week brought with it cooler, and more typical temperatures. By Wednesday, the high will be in the high 50s, and while it might not rain, you can expect cloudy skies.

On Thursday, rain showers are expected to return, with a 50% chance of rain all day. Highs will reach 56 degrees with a low of 48 degrees, and while the temperature recovers a bit on Friday, the high is still in the lower 60s, which makes for a chilly day at the beach.

Grab a sweater and a raincoat on Saturday because the temperature likely won’t go above 54, and winds are expected to be stronger as well. But Sunday, some sunshine and partly cloudy skies return with a daytime high near 60.

If you’re on Folly between now and Thanksgiving, then be sure to try your luck at the Annual Turkey Shoot to benefit the Folly Beach volunteer firefighters. This Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17 will be the last weekend of the shoot, but the event will continue Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Thanksgiving as well. Come to Folly River Park any night of the shoot from 7 to 11 p.m.
