Weather Report: February 18, 2013

If you’re like us, right around the middle of February, you’re looking for Spring. Winter has been here long enough, officially, and a little beach time, some sunshine, a gentle breeze would do us all good. We know how you feel, and it’s got us checking the weather forecast with our fingers crossed.

Here’s what you can expect on Folly this week.

Monday should be lovely. Mostly sunny skies and almost no chance of rain will mark the day. And although the temperatures won’t quite reach 60, it feels good that the sun’s out, right?

Tuesday might look at little more spring like, but not because temperatures will be warmer. Instead, look for some scattered thunderstorms to move across the island. Winds will be stronger too at 12 mph.

By Wednesday and Thursday the wet weather will have somewhat cleared to partly cloudy skies. High temperatures for both days should stay right around 60 degrees. Considering the wet weather scheduled for the end of the week, plan to get out of the house to enjoy the bit of sunshine there is. Visit the Pirate Playground, walk on the beach, eat lunch on the deck at Taco Boy. Just bring a sweater.

The rain sets in on Friday. You can expect a 70-percent chance of thunderstorms, and southwest winds at 15 mph. The high is 71, which is nice, but the precipitation might keep you from enjoying it.

Keep your umbrellas handy for the weekend too. The chance of rain showers will peak at 40-percent for Saturday and Sunday. The high temperatures should reach right around 64 degrees, and lows will drop into the lower 50s.

We know, we know. Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet. But still. You’re on Folly Beach, and that makes life very sweet.
