Sixth-Annual Taste of Folly

This weekend promises to be in the sixties and sunny, a perfect time to come out and support the sixth-annual Taste of Folly.

The family-friendly restaurant event offers a good time for all age groups with activities like the hot dog eating contest, chili cookoff, date auction with councilman DJ Rich, dunk tank, silent auction, jump castle, server-lympics, games, and Charleston Pet Helpers will also be on the scene with dogs up for adoption.

In addition to the many activities up and down Center Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. food vendors will be cooking up a little bit of everything while everyone works up an appetite having a good time.

Local music fans will get a chance to listen to Sarah Cole and the Hawkes and songwriter Nathan Calhoun.

The purpose of Taste of Folly 2011 is to promote local restaurants and raise money in conjunction with environmental-awareness group Charleston Surfrider for the Beach Management Control.

Charleston Surfrider and the Beach Management Patrol are volunteer groups that strive to promote environmental awareness to keep the beaches and oceans clean and beautiful for years to come.

This weekend also provides many Charlestonians to get out of the house and come back down to the beach, walk the pier, visit the many stores and shops in Folly, and get ready for the spring and summer seasons that are just around the corner.
