Shag the Night Away on the Pier

Summer’s not over yet!

Do you need proof? There are two Moonlight Mixers left before the end of this summer season, which means you still have the chance to follow the Chairmen of the Board’s advice and “Shag the night away” on the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier.

The Charleston County Park Recreation Commission has held Moonlight Mixers on the pier all summer long, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to learn, practice, or show off their skills at South Carolina’s state dance in the ideal location: Folly Beach. Come out to the pier on Friday August 31 or September 21 for your last two chances to have fun under the stars and over the beach.

DJ Jim Bowers of AM 1340 The Boardwalk will play oldies and the best beach music from 7 to 11 p.m., and dancing is encouraged. Food and snacks will be available from Locklear’s Beach City Grill and the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop, which are located at the pier’s entrance. Drinks, both alcoholic and not, will be available for purchase. Please remember your ID if you plan on enjoying beer, wine, or cocktails.

Advance tickets are $8 for Charleston County residents or $10 for non-country residents through the CCPRC’s web site. If they are any tickets left, they will be $10 at the gate on the night of the event. Only 600 tickets will be available for each night, so be sure to purchase yours in advance. Food, beverages, and parking are not included in the cost of admission.

In case of rain, Moonlight Mixers are postponed to the following Saturday night.
