The Sea & Sand Festival Returns to Folly Beach for Family-Friendly Fun

It may only be Monday, but we’re already dreaming about the weekend on Folly – to be specific, the weekend of April 7 through April 9. Why? Because that weekends marks the 27th Annual Folly Beach Sea & Sand Festival, of course!

The longest-running and most family-friendly event held on our esteemed streets, the Sea & Sand Festival kicks off on Friday, April 7 at Folly River Park with the Miss Sea & Sand Pageant at 7:30 p.m. Following the crowning of a Folly queen, the festivities will continue on Saturday, April 8.

The main event – the Sea & Sand Festival itself – takes places a little later on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Accordingly, Center Street from Huron to Ashley will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Other important details? The entry fee for the festival is $5 (with the exception of kids under 10, which are free), which includes a wrist band and a cup. Don’t leave your wallet at home, because in addition to that $5 entry fee, you’ll need ID to get in. What you should leave home, however, are your dogs, coolers, metal cups or any outside food or drink – none of which will be allowed inside the Sea & Sand Festival.

Don’t worry, though; with over 80 local art and food vendors, kids’ activities and carnival games, a silent auction, mechanical shark, bungee trampoline, face painting, fortune telling, jump castles, live music on two stages, and more, you’re practically guaranteed to have a good time.

On the main stage, the music line up on the Washout stage consists of Don’t Mess with the Tiger from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m and a Jimmy Buffet Tribute by Folly Pirates Over 40 from 2p.m. to 4:30p.m. On the Ashley stage will be One Kool Blow from 11a.m. to 1:30p.m. and Guilt Ridden Troubadour from 2p.m. to 4:30p.m.

The weekend doesn’t stop when the sun sets on the Sea & Sand Festival either. Head to the beach in front of Tides/Blu on Sunday, April 9th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to marvel over talent in the Sand Sculpture Contest. Live music will be played on the deck during and after the competition.

So if you’re looking for something fun to do in the near future at Folly, don’t let this jam-packed festival weekend pass you by. There’s something for everyone! Bonus? Proceeds benefit participating Folly Beach-based charities and non-profits.
