5 New Year’s Eve Events In and Around Folly

2015 is ending with what has been unusually balmy weather, and Folly Beach surfers have loved it! The beaches have been covered with visitors and locals enjoying the last vestiges of warm weather before cold finally sets in next month. Many local restaurants are celebrating the beginning of 2016 with food and drink specials, but there are a few notable placing having New Year’s parties that will keep you dancing late into the night. Make sure wherever you are to get out by midnight to see the annual Flip Flop Drop at the top of the Tides Hotel at the end of Center Street. Keep in mind that Center Street will close for the fesitvities at 10pm on New Year’s Eve.

1. Blu at the Tides Hotel New Year’s Beach Bash

Blu at the Tides is having a huge party and is inviting everyone to come out and participate in a night of fun and debauchery. For only $60, you can party like a rock star and enjoy a huge buffet of shrimp, cheeses, and other delicious options served up by Blu’s chefs. DJ C-Nile, a popular DJ on Folly, will be spinning some favorite tunes throughout the evening downstairs while Ntranze pumps out live music upstairs. The ticket price also includes an open bar, so please drink responsibly and remember to eat! VIP packages are available and include a 3-night stay at the hotel, a Manager’s Reception, NYE tickets, and tickets for an all-you-can-eat oyster roast on New Year’s Day. VIP’s will also receive breakfast for two daily. If you would like to attend the oyster roast but want to skip the NYE party, tickets are just $20.13! Included in the oyster roast is a traditional New Year’s buffet with BBQ, hoppin’ john, collards and more.

2. Loggerhead’s New Year’s Eve Party

Admission to join the party at Loggerhead’s is free for those who are simply looking for a place to hang out and ring in the New Year. However, they are offering a special dining option for the holiday along with their regular menu. Choose between two appetizers and five specially served entrees made with you in mind. Drink specials will be offered in addition, and reservations should be made in advance. Swim in the Wild will be rocking the place down until the wee hours of the morning, so get ready for a heck of a good time!

3. Under the Trees at the Brickhouse Kitchen

The Brickyard Kitchen is located on James Island just outside of Folly Beach, and they are offering one heck of a party for locals and visitors alike! A $70 all-inclusive ticket gets you into the party and allows you to enjoy an open bar, a heavy spread of delicious food, bonfires, fireworks, photobooths, and screens showing college football playoffs. Everyone will get a champagne toast at midnight, so bring your friends and party under the trees and enjoy what looks to be a clear night in Charleston! Dance the night away with the Tidal Jive Band, who will be rocking all genres of music in one of your favorite event locations on James Island.

4. New Year’s Even on the Yorktown

Tickets for this event start at $100 and include an all-inclusive bar, light Hors D’oeurves, two stages of music and access to the ships airplane hangars and outdoor fantail areas. VIP tickets are $150 and also include access to the Rooftop Deck. 10,000 sq ft of heated tent space, top shelf open bar and premium entertainment. MVP, SoulPlay and Lectra will be hitting the stages, and DJs Kilgo and Rehab will keep the entertainment at peak level all night long.

5. Republic Garden and Lounge

Doors open at the Republic early for partygoers and close at 2pm. Even better, the event is free until 9pm! After 9:30pm, a cover charge applies and there will be a line, so consider this when making arrangements. VIP tickets are for sale for just $45 that allow you to skip the line and enjoy heavy Hors D’oeurves, and complimentary champagne. If you have a larger party, consider getting a VIP table for $1000. The table offers bottle service for up to 5 people ($100 per person more), 2 premium liquors, a premium champagne, and heavy Hor D’oeuvres. Brent Pace for Mayor will be serving up some live jams alongside DJ Leo.
