The 8th Annual FollyGras Festival

The 8th Annual FollyGras Festival is coming to Folly Beach soon! A whole week’s worth of fun activities are planned around the island and include oyster roasts, whole hog roasts, music and a huge masquerade ball. Make your plans to attend as many of these as possible, because it’s going to be a rocking good time. Many of the events are free, and the upcoming ball’s tickets are going for just $25. The schedule is as follows.

Monday, February 16th – Head out to the Grill & Island Bar for an oyster roast. It’s the perfect time of year to indulge in the hugely popular bivalves, and you can peruse their new menu while you’re there. Butter burgers and a wider variety of dinner options will make your visit to the Edge of America better than ever!

Tuesday, February 17th – No matter what your views are about Fat Tuesday, it’s the perfect time to indulge in oysters and brews at some of your favorite locations on the island. Concerts will be held around at Jack of Cups, Folly Beach Crab Shack, Drop-In Deli and Planet Follywood.

Wednesday, February 18th – Rita’s Seaside Grill is celebrating Ash Wednesday with a Cochon de Lait, a whole hog cooked over an open fire in a family style celebration of the holiday. Injected with a delicious mixture of ingredients ranging from butter and wine to garlic/salt/pepper, the hog will be also be seasoned perfectly in a Cajun style.

Thursday, February 19th – If you missed the Cochon de Lait at Rita’s, head over to Loggerhead’s for another Cajun pig roast. Author Bill Noel, writer of the “First Light” series, will make a stop from 5-7pm for book signings and to greet fans of his books. Come out and meet the author himself and listen as the band Wadata fires up their own brand of jams from 6-9pm.

Friday, February 20th – The FollyGras Masquerade Ball will be held at the Tides Hotel from 7-11pm. Tickets for the event are just $25 and include hors d’oeuvres (a nacho bar, crudite and fruit with cheese), a cash bar, tunes played by The Secrets. Guests are invited to dress up in their best holiday attire or wear trendy costumes. There will be giveaways and awards for Best Girl, Best Guy and Best Costume.

Saturday, February 21st – FollyGras Main event. Head to Center Street for a huge block party! The event is family friendly, free and will have a parade. The Street will be closed from 12-5pm, and bands will hit the stages and perform some of the best music ever seen on Folly. Watch as Gaslight Street, The Hungry Monks, Hollow Point, Shakin’ Martinis and the SoulFish band light up the event with catchy tunes that will get you in the mood for bead throwin’, foot stomping and more. Food vendors will be available, as will the open restaurants, for yummy bites along the way. Wear your favorite costume and encourage your friends to head out with you for this enjoyable day at the beach!
