Folly Beach Climate

Folly Beach subtropical climate is just one of the reasons visitors love staying on the “Edge of America” as many fondly call it.

Folly Beach weather delivers an average summer high of 85 degrees, punctuated with cool coastal breezes and late afternoon thunderstorms. Guests enjoy Folly’s beaches, one of the swimming pools and porches offered at our vacation homes, or cold beverages served up by one of our unique eateries down on Center Street.

Fall brings comfortable temps with clear blue skies and sunshine, perfect for walking the beach or pier. The average temp is 65 degrees, but with warmer temperatures during the days, followed by cool, crisp evenings. Make sure to join us for Follypalooza, a local festival you won’t soon forget.

Winter is typically mild on Folly Beach, with an average temperature of 55 degrees, but it’s not uncommon to have periods of cooler weather with a chance for snow flurries from time to time. Make sure to attend the Folly Beach Christmas Parade, the New Year’s Eve “Flip Flop Drop” and the Bill Murray Look-A-Like Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day!

Folly Beach comes to life in the Spring with an average temperature of 75 degrees. Kayak the Folly River to view wildlife or get some fresh air while fishing from the pier!
